PE Review Course Information

Taught by the East Tennessee Section

The local section periodically (usually once a year) teaches a review course for the Professional Engineers' exam. While the course is geared for those taking the test next, it can also be a very inexpensive way to obtain an entire year's worth of continuing education credits if you already have your PE. The course consists of six classes which are taught for three hours each, usually in the B-310 Toy F. Reid Eastman Employee Center in Kingsport, TN. The entrance fee is $25 per person. The schedule for the 2007 course is listed below:

EVEN IF YOU ALREADY HOLD AN ENGINEERING LICENSE, YOU MAY WISH TO ATTEND THIS COURSE!  The State of Tennessee requires each licensed engineer to obtain 24 Professional Development Hours (PDHs) over a two-year period in order to retain his or her engineering license.  The East Tennessee Section of AIChE will award PDHs according to the number of class hours attended.  Students who attended all sessions of the course in 2003 received 14 PDHs, more than enough to satisfy the requirement for one year.

About becoming a Professional Engineer in Tennessee:

Generally, this requires relevant engineering experience beyond a bachelor's degree in engineering, plus the successful completion of two examinations: Fundamentals of Engineering Exam (a.k.a. EIT) and Principles and Practice of Engineering Exam (a.k.a. PE exam)
